Dear Parents
We had a wonderful first week of school from chilly mornings and evenings to very warm weather. The athletic track was marked before we started school this term, with learners’ enthused on a successful Sports Day and interschool events. We are hoping to see our school produce another KZN athlete this season.
Mandela Day:
In celebration of Mandela day, our younger grades will be buddying with older grades for a team effort on helping others. Children in Grade 7 for example, will read to Grade 3’s, teaching and helping them, talking to them on their strengths and challenges. We welcome any other buddying outreach activities that our learners can initiate on their own. Let’s see what other ideas our children can come up with.
Charity begins at home!
Foundation Phase Elocution Competition:
Our “internal selection” of learners to represent Morningside Primary at the Cluster Level took place on Friday, 12 July 2024. Mrs C. Pet (former principal of New Forest High) adjudicated the competition. The following learners were placed first and will represent Morningside Primary School at the Circuit Level on 24 July 2024.
Grade 1 Poetry: Asra Rahiman
Grade 2 Reading: Michaela Saunders
Grade 3 Speech: Himaliya Naidoo
Milo Evening:
Our Milo evening has been moved to Thursday, 15 August 2024.
Astro Quiz Round 2 and 3:
Towards the end of last term, eight Grade 7 learners participated online in Round Two of the South African National Astro Quiz Competition. “Starforce”, consisting of Ayden Scott, Darshan Chellan, Raziel Ibrahim and Jaden Ramiah gained enough correct answers to proceed to Round 3 which was held on Thursday 11 July. We await the results with bated breath.
