Dear Parents

AGM and Budget 2025:

A reminder that our Budget Meeting and Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, 5  November 2024.

Bottom Parking Area:

There have been several complaints by fellow parents and our neighbours in the Morningside  area about how some parents are deliberately parking on the way.

• There are parents who park on Trematon Road blocking the way for other parents to get  through.

• To make matters worse, there are parents who then double park on the road forcing the  community neighbours and our own parents to squeeze through to get pass you.  • There are also parents who park right in front of our bottom pedestrian gate, blocking  the view of little children and their parents who need to then guess as to whether there  is a car approaching and if it is safe to cross. Do not park near the children’s pedestrian  gate.

• We have put up signs to remind some parents of being considerate.

• Please be considerate by not parking on the road… “You are breaking the Law.” Instead  pull-over onto the grass near to the new Grade R classes, get out of your car and walk to  fetch our precious babies. Do not hoot continuously to attract your child’s attention.

• Furthermore, toddlers and little children should not be playing outside your car where  there is a flow of traffic. Please keep them in the car with you. Toddlers can very easily  topple over and land in front of moving cars.

• There have also been complaints of adults using vulgar language when speaking to each  other. Our children have heard and reported this to me. Beware of language used in the  parking lot and on the road.

Thank you to the 99% of our 559 parents… who are doing the right thing. We are so grateful  for your patience and care with the pick-up times even when it is difficult and frustrating.

Chess:

The recent chess tournament, which took place on 15 October 2024, was a thrilling experience  for the participating learners. It offered them the opportunity to compete against various  schools. The event was hosted at Escombe Primary School, and schools from different regions  participated, creating a highly competitive atmosphere. While the competition was fierce, the  tournament provided invaluable experience for all learners involved. They were able to interact  with peers from other schools, observe different playing styles, and refine their strategies.  Report by Mr T. Barath

Cricket vs Glenmore:

On the 16th of October, our u13 cricketers travelled to Glenmore Primary School. The chilly  wind could not deter the boys from seeking another victory. We lost the toss and batted first,  scoring 133/6 after 20 overs. Glenmore batted superbly and made 111 runs all out after 19  overs.

Werda School u13 Tournament:

On Saturday, 19 October, our u13 cricketers travelled to Werda School to compete in their  Cricket Festival. The boys played five 15 over games with very little rest in between each  match. The boys won 3 and lost 2. The results are as follows:

Match One: Northdene A scored 180/3 after 15 overs, while MPS were bowled all-out in 9  overs, scoring just 31 runs.

Match Two: MPS vs Werda – Werda made 134/3 after 15 overs in the first innings. Then the  super partnership of captain Melokuhle Ntshangase and Bilal Shaik opened batting and stayed at  the crease to win the game in the 13th over by 11 wickets - outstanding!

Match Three: We then played Kuswag, batting first and scoring 121/5 after 15 overs. In thesecond nail-biting innings Kuswag scored 114/7 allowing us to win by just 7 runs.  Match Four: MPS vs Parkside Primary. The boys gave away 155/2 after 15 overs, but still  managed to rack up 130/5 in the second innings.

Match Five: MPS vs Gelofte – The boys who were eager to finish the day off with a favourable  win percentage, batted first and scored 143/4 over 15 overs. Gelofte made 93/8 in the second  innings, proving to be no match for the Mighty Morningside.

Morningside vs Al-Falaah:

On the 23rd of October 2024, Morningside hosted Al-Falaah with a combined team of u11 and  u13 players. Al-Falaah batted first making 117/5 over 20 overs. MPS quickly made their score to  win after 13 overs.
