Dear Parents
AGM and Budget 2025:
Thank you to all our parents and staff who attended the Annual General Meeting and Budget Meeting on Tuesday, the 5th of November 2024.
• The proposed Budget for 2025 (with a 5% increase) was approved. Next year’s fees will be R25 480.
• This is an increase of R 122 per month over 10 months.
Registration for 2025 and School Fee Commitment Forms:
These will be sent home shortly with Grade 1 to 6 learners. Please fill out and return to school for all “2025” Grade 2 to Grade 7 learners who will be enrolled.
Learners who will not be attending Morningside in 2025:
This year’s Grade 1 to 6 learners who will not be attending Morningside in 2025, must let Mrs Craig and I know by 18 November 2024. Please email both mcraig@morningsideps.co.za and principal@morningsideps.co.za
Please note… The above is not necessary for Grade 7 learners.
Christmas Hampers for our General Assistants:
This is a gesture of appreciation for all the hard work in keeping our school clean and hygienically secure. Our caretakers are instrumental in cleaning up after our children especially, when they are unwell and have accidents. They are kind to our babies making sure that the toilets and premises are sanitary and that the school is kept beautiful. Please donate on Karri App. as a “Thank you!” to our wonderful GA’s.
Exams / Controlled Tests:
Controlled Tests and Exams, started today, Monday, 11 November 2024. • Please follow the Programme of Assessment strictly and ensure that all children are at school to write their assessments in the allotted days. This POA can be found under Resources on the D6 and can also be found on ClassDojo.
• Please do not take early-leave for learners as we have noticed that a few parents have the tendency to take children home after their paper. Learners miss out on revision that is done in class.
• Please return all textbooks on the morning of the “said subject” being written. A charge for missing textbooks is incurred if not returned.
Grade 4 Excursion:
The Grade Four learners recently enjoyed a hugely successful outing to UShaka Sea World Education. Their day was awash with new experiences and a treasure trove of marine educational insights and knowledge. From dissecting a fish, with the accompanying looks of utter
disgust and horror from some of the children, to the inspirational Dolphin Show, the UShaka adventure will long be etched in their memories.

Grade 5 Excursion:
On Wednesday, 29 October, the Grade Fives went on an exciting excursion to the Tin Shed in Kloof. The day was filled with various obstacle courses designed to test teamwork and problem solving skills. Learners were divided into groups, and each group had to collaborate to overcome the challenges in the course. Everyone was encouraged to contribute in their own way, whether it was by offering support, coming up with strategies, or taking on leadership roles. The highlight of the day for all the learners was undoubtedly the zipline, which gave them an adrenaline rush and a sense of achievement. The experience was not only about physical challenges but also about learning how to work together to achieve a common goal.

Congratulations Tawonga Russell Mhungu:
We are proud of the fact that one of our own past-learners, now at DHS in Grade 10, Tawonga Russell Mhungu had achieved KZN colours in Water Polo. This remarkable feat of being in the Under 16 KZN team has shown the skills of ex-Morningside learners flying the flag high.
Grade 1 and R Orientation:
A successful Grade 1 and Grade R Orientation Day took place last week. We welcomed 72 Grade One learners and 40 Grade R learners into our school. Morningside Primary made history in having our first Grade R Orientation Day since our establishment / opening in 1928. Thank you to our General Assistants who helped put together cupboards, painting, laying down astro-turf using gabion effects, expertly paving the surroundings and working on weekends and late into the evenings to ensure that the Grade R units were ready for Orientation Day, whilst guaranteeing that our school saved funds by not needing contractors. “God bless you!”
Touch Rugby:
On Friday, 1 November 2024, our Touch Rugby team travelled to Glenmore Primary for a three way mini tournament against Glenmore Primary and Manor Gardens. Both our boys and girls’ teams played extremely well, considering it was the first time playing against another school for many of our players. Our girls won their game against Manor Gardens 2-1 and it was a close score against Glenmore. Our boys drew 1 all with Manor Gardens and were unsuccessful in their game against Glenmore. Both teams gained valuable experience and can be proud of the way they played.
